Very strange. Suggest you contact SD support if a hard reboot doesn't sort it out.

Just to offer some balance, we went Welshpool to Dunkeswell and return today, with two iPad 2's on board both running the latest version. Neither crashed once.

I had went for a 40 minute local flight yesterday and skydemon shut itself down 4 times.

I'll do a hard restart and see if its different today.

After the last update I had similar problems - though on the ground as the weather hasn't permitted me to fly yet. Hard resets achieved little. Sent Tim about 15 crash dumps (literally) but these were inconclusive. At his (last resort) suggestion this morning I completely removed SkyDemon and re-installed. Haven't had a crash since - but still early days.

Don't forget to archive your logs etc if you do a complete reinstall.

Flew 4 trips today with SD on iPad mini and as usual it performed flawlessly giving accurate reliable information at all times. Beautiful day above the cloud :D

iPad Mini latest version of SD closed down during take off roll today and closed again just as I landed.

With respect to your achievements Tim, I think you may be falling to the trap of being a little dismissive to your customers who have some problems with your product. I really do have this program closing down problem and I would hate to think it is not being taken seriously because I seem to be in the minority reporting it. I fly more than most users and generally use SD on every flight. It is used as it is intended, as primary navigation with my installed kit as backup and these problems do cause some difficulties.

So my questions to you are:

1. Is there a problem here or am I experiencing this in isolation.
2. Do I have a faulty iPad, nothing else seems to have this problem.
3. Is there a solution you can advise.

Thank you in advance.

1. There's no widespread problem with SkyDemon for iPad. A few people are experiencing crashes, but that will always be the case. I experienced one in Safari this morning.
2. I doubt you have a faulty iPad.
3. We're doing everything we can, including researching more advanced crash-reporting tools than the ones we currently use, which seem to exclude one particular class of crash. We will always strive to make things better for everyone.

I wouldn't want anybody to think we were being dismissive towards their problems. Please try to remember this is not a SkyDemon support forum, I just come here from time to time and try to be helpful. We have email support on our website, answered by people much friendlier than me.

Thank you for your reply, your support forum website won't let me log in, so this forum seems to be the best place to get a response.

Hi BP, Hi Tim... I too flew with SD today using latest version and no probs with the iPad 2 ... but I note BP is flying with iPad mini and I suspect relatively few people using those as yet, so could that be the key difference?

Just a thought,

Andy

Probably no help, but I flew two sectors today using my iPad Mini thingy - with SD (latest version) up and running - Absolutely no problem whatsoever.

Don't bury it in Burma, that's my advice. Before you know it, someone will be trying to dig it up again and make it airworthy.
