All the information you need is in the AIP VAC, accessible via SkyDemon.
The AIP entry wrote:LF-R 90 entry conditions (excluding the LF- R94 Meucon area): entry authorized after radio contact with VANNES TWR.

According to the French SIA website, entry to R90 is by contact with Vannes Twr.

Several years since I last flew in but easy enough IIRC. The Tower will normally speak English although I tried my aviation French phrases when visiting (vent arriere, piste dégagé etc etc). Vannes is a lovely little town and has a nice port. Not sure that the airfield has customs though (I had flown via Dinard) so you might need to clear into France via a full time Customs airport.

Thanks for info, the SD chart usually gives the relevant radio when you click on the area but not this time found details on the airfield chart/info as sugested.

Planning to enter via Le Touquet.

Thanks

Vannes is a lovely town with some excellent restaurants.

For many years touring in France our SOP was always: land, order a taxi into town, order a couple of beers and when the taxi eventually arrives ask to be taken to a decent hotel .

At Vannes the taxi took a while to arrive by which time 'several' beers had been consumed - the taximan announced that there were no hotel rooms available for 60km (there was a fiesta/conference in town)! Too enubriated to fly we were looking at a considerable taxi-fare. Eventualy we located 2 rooms at a Formula-1 on an industrial estate.

We have now ammended our SOP to: land, order taxi, order beers after check-in at hotel!

Hi
I have flown down a couple of times its a very easy trip. I clear customs at Cherbourg and then straight down. The danger area is not really an issue looking on the ground the military seem to have mostly pulled out. Aim to get there outside of lunchtime when the tower is not manned so you are supposed to speak French. I nearly got caught out trying to leave on a Monday when again no tower means no English. Just talked to the tower and they told me to depart anyway. In the end the only other guy flying was a Brit as well.i go there to the skydiving club and have a static caravan there. If you want any more info or to follow me down just let me know.
