Slight thread drift.... Vixen Two were of course ex-Rothmans Aerobatic Team aircraft and my RV-6 engine had been in various RAT Pitts' in its life (included a prop strike in 'E Malaysia' in the mid-70s IIRC) before ending up in Mr Lecomber's G-BOOK which was lost in a fire and thence it went into the RV. Vixen Two sadly had a mid-air....
Yes the mid air at Blackpool with John and Andy was a tragedy. Marcus made his first flight following the incident with me in the 80's from Cardiff to Bristol. One of the old RAT's engineers,Bob Lee, had an engineering company in those days at Lulsgate. Marcus passed away on the ground and not in the air but I believe his son is a commercial pilot.

FM is now a “film star” having appeared in the King's Speech, although using a 1941 built aeroplane with a 1953 registration in a scene from 1936 makes one wonder about the production skills!
It was due to be (correctly) a DH.60 but aircraft unserviceabilities contrived against them.

Not a TV drama I know, but Fuji G-BBRC (now Blackbushe based) was used in a Bollywood film for sequences shot at Fairoaks in about '86 or '87. As I had my Icom with me, I was asked to escort the film crew. They first filmed the actor getting into 'RC in what is known as the 'Customs Area',(newly constructed in those days) then we went over to the south side of the runway to film the landing and the actor exiting the aircraft. Anne, the Deputy Airport Manager at the time, was paid cash for use of the airport, and I was given some remuneration for my help!!
What's an iPad? Do I really care?

I used to own the seaplane ( Volmer Sportsman) that appeared in a Poirot film on TV.

A friend flew his Stampe 'XP in the TV film of Ballet Shoes.
I think the footage used ended up as about 1% of what was shot. Presumably about normal?
Life is short but I still fly slow

I googled “glider in dalziel and Pascoe” (having remembered that there had been an episode based at a gliding club) and turned up among other things: http://impdb.org/index.php?title=Dalziel_and_Pascoewhich shows several gliders, and G-OFER Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub, and some other GA stuff without obvious reg details. Andy owed me a Pitts flight at the time, very sad that he was no longer around to pay it back.Actually, sod the flight (very rare I would say that), but much rather the pair of them were still with us.
Real pilots fly anything they can get their hands on!

Lovely bloke. He used to take his Labrador flying with him.

I flew a Pa 31 in "The Professionals", I think the episode was called " Its only a beautiful Picture". 3 days filming for 30 seconds on screen but the breakfasts were very good!
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

I was recently introduced to the children's TV series Come Outside. The main character, Auntie Mabel, seems to have a small fleet of identical GA aircraft. Well, at least two anyway!

I think they used three in total, one of which the BBC had to pay for a respray because when they took the stickers off, it damaged the paintwork. Anyway... http://sales.flyer.co.uk/G-RAFG/

There was a children's TV series a few series back featuring Lynda Baron and a small dog. She flew around in a Slingsby T67 covered in coloured spots. Can anyone remember the name of the programme ?
What does that button do ?

The flyingscenes were all shot at White Waltham - with top aerobatic pilot Alan Cassidy in a dress, false boobs and wig. Amazing what our professional pilots have to do to earn a crust
