UK GA aircraft in TV dramas

Postby Old Pilot » Thu Dec 27, 2012 12:14 pm

Just been watching an episode of Frost with G-AWUT featured. Nice to see it's still flying. Anyone know were the scene was filmed?

Be nice to see a list of other aircraft used on TV.

There was a scene in a hangar with forensics but to no conclusion. The episode ended in the meat packing factory.

The plot suggested the C152 was used to transport a body (in pieces) to dump in the north sea. I think a 172 might have been a better bet.

The hangar looked like Elstree.

I sometimes wonder why so many villains are linked to light aircraft in tv and film drama.

Haha, body to dump from C152. hahaha.
Whoever wrote the scenario, should have tried flight in C152 first, or even 172 for that matter. Oh dear... good, good.

A TV company used my old C172 G-ATGO once for a Merseyside (where else?) cops n robbers thing ... I think it may have been called Merseybeat or somesuch.

Another one in which the villain was flying a light aircraft.

I'm surprised the tyres and radio didnt get nicked :-)

One of my old steeds from Clacton, Super Cub G-BIMM (I think) was used in an episode of 'Lovejoy' quite a few years ago.

My C172B shareoplane G-ARMO was "blown up" in an episode of the professionals. There used to be a you tube video but it has disappeared.

Edited to add .. But there is a time limited chance to see it here... https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/the-professionals/series-5/episode-3-cry-wolf

Just checked on google--it was 1950---donald hume murdered stanley setty and dumped his body over essex marshes near southend. No details as to where plane hired or type---anyone know ??? 62 years ago---time flys -as they say.

Auster out of Gravesend as far as I recall. I think he may have landed at Southend as the weather closed in, or it could be the other way round ie out of Southend into Gravesend.

There was this one. Does not sound like that it was dumped though.

I remember that one as I'd been talking to it a few minutes earlier (Farnborough LARS) No indication of any problem on Farnborough frequency.
