Glad you enjoyed your visit......just to correct you though but please note that both Glasgow and Edinburgh very GA friendly airports who fall over backwards to accomodate both inbound and transit GA flights.....our present phone system however does not allow us direct phone access directly to the Edinburgh Controllers so sometimes not too easy to quickly pass traffic information to them.

We enjoyed the hospitality of Swanwick recently.

It was a most interesting day, marred somewhat by bad news for one of team and also by the fact that some booked attendees failed to turn up. Given the over subscription for these events, it caused some tutting from some of us lucky ones. However, not knowing the circumstances, I like to think there were extenuating circumstances...for each/all of them...

I'm sorry but have I missed something? My friend was quoted around £180-£250 for landing, mandatory handling and overnight parking in a Cessna 172 at both of these places. He was also told that the local flying club couldn't accommodate him so had to be "handled" by an exec-jet agency.

James, You are quite correct that those airports are not especially GA-friendly. What Fisbang was referring to was ATC at those airports, who do accommodate the wishes of GA pilots whenever possible.
