Spare seat available to (Raduno) Italy

Postby AndyR » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:31 am

Due to a few movements of crew and additional aircraft, we have a spare seat from Shoreham to the Raduno, departing Wednesday 4th July and arriving back in the UK on Sunday 8th July.

Details of the trip HERE .

We will be staying overnight in Cannes on the Wednesday evening and are still debating Venice on the Saturday evening or whether to stay for the Sassuolo VFR party.

The seat would be as passenger only, so the cost share would be reduced accordingly, but some cost share would be expected. Details to anyone seriously interested.

A good opportunity maybe for someone who has never done a trip like this, or an experienced pilot who just wants to sit back and enjoy the view.
Imagine what you might try if you thought you could not fail...

What are you guys flying?

I have been invited to the event but have not flown that far in an Eagle before. Would be more comfortable making the trip with some experienced guys.

Diagonally, perhaps, Charles?

It would be great to see you there!

Cessna 172 Reims Rocket. However,as Charles notes below, if he can fit in it, he is first on the list. I do have others on the list after him, but can add you too if you like?

Of course, the other option is to do the trip 'with us' but in your own aeroplane. This can be quite useful in that you take off behind an accompanying aircraft, listen to their radio calls and then follow suit. It also means that at each stop you can look at the following leg with others (assuming they are all going same way, same day). I guess it also depends on what type of Eagle you are referring to...

Hi Guys

I'm still hoping to go to Raduno and have one or two spare seats in my aircraft if anyone wants to go and Andy has filled his spare seats in his C172. Please let me know if interested.

Thanks

May I ask who is not listed in the official participants list (viewtopic.php?f=66&t=77067&p=1067864#p1067864 first post) to kindly let me know their generic intentions, pob and aircraft.

I will put you down as "tbd" until official confirmation but I need to know to be able to have back up plans regarding hotel bookings, etc.

Sansepolcro I can manage quite easily, Sassuolo will require contacting another hotel, organizing transfers and most important booking dinner (400 people seated expected, first come, first served).

I would be very unhappy to be unable to offer the same hospitalty standard to all Raduno participants.

I think that's a (characteristically) polite way for AE to say "sort it out chaps and make your minds up"!!!

I'd like to fly my own aeroplane. Very inexperienced with GA European flying. I have not really thought too much about it in the past. Anyone know the complications of using a Permit aeroplane.

Yes it is a Christen Eagle. With a Paintscheme designed by a certain Italian chap.

What kind of cruising speeds do you guys have? What is your range? How many stops are you planning?

If anyone has similar cruise performance - how would you feel about formation? Is that even possible?

All VFR? (G-KLAW is day VFR only.)

Around 110 to 120 kts. Around 4 to 5 hours though bladders will make legs shorter than that, no longer than three hours. Planning stops at Troyes, then near Lyon (exactly where tbd when we get round to doing any serious planning), then Cannes overnight. Then along the coast to Lucca and Sansepolcro. Not decided on which route back yet.

Plan on doing it VFR so fellow pilot benefits as he is a day VFR PPL. I do have the option of going IFR if I really have to, but the idea is to enjoy the view.

I am formation trained and practice it regularly. As a lead aircraft it may well suit you. Have flown formation through France several times, causes no problem usually.

No problems or restrictions for a permit aircraft in either France or Italy :thumright:
