Yep. I could go from £14 to about £5. It's all about getting the right balance and that is influenced by having to 'factor' bad/late debt.

Steady on, Dave! Nearly gave me a heart attack there...
He's absolutely right though, credit control is exceptionally difficult in this industry and better cash flow would make a huge difference. We're just in the process of shifting to e-invoicing and direct debit payment in a bid to deliver better efficiency.
Both Dave and Darren are absolutely correct about outstanding debts and it is no surprise that Shoreham have had a shift in policy, it just doesn't seem to have been well executed!
They could have tried this for example:
Dear valued Custy,
In order to improve our fuel service over we have finally unwrapped the pay-at-pump machine and given it a thorough testing, we now accept all major cards any time of the day or night. For those schools on site we are able to provide pre-paid cards for use in the machine and our helpful admin team will happily take your funds in advance to ensure that you actually spend them here rather than elsewhere.
Love and kisses, etc, etc

We did some trials on our new 'pay up quick, or else' system today..http://m.facebook.com/pages/The-Jet-Age-Museum/100374323379961?id=100374323379961&_rdr#!/photo.php?fbid=454698264558155&id=136863653008286&set=a.146295342065117.25885.136863653008286&__user=781832479
Sorry, I'm not sure that I follow your maths there. How on earth can "£50k of yet-to-be-paid" bills (but presumably they will "soon" be settled) fund a landing fee reduction of that magnitude?
As I said if everyone paid on time -- things would be a bit cheaper.
Why should flying organisations act as your banker.
If you want to borrow money for whatever go and ask the bank if they will give a 'Free Overdraft' ?
Would I need to guess the answer?

Just put all prices up by 10% and advise everyone that there will be a 10% discount for prompt payment....
No difference for those who pay on time, but late payers will pay 10% more. Carrot rather than stick.
