WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST

SATURDAY:
A cold front is moving into western Scotland and Ireland, weakening all the time as it edges eastwards. A slack pressure flow develops across England and Wales as a shallow area of low pressure affects central France, pushing a trough northwards towards southeast England and into the eastern English Channel later.
So a band of cloud and outbreaks of rain for western Scotland and central; parts of Ireland on Saturday morning, this moving slowly eastwards through the day before weakening and breaking up. Becoming brighter behind the front across Ireland and much of Scotland in the afternoon with broken cloud here.
For most of England and Wales morning cloud will be breaking, and any morning mist will lift quickly. Sunny spells then develop and last for most of the day, although across southeast England thicker cloud may encroach and bring a few showers.
Winds will be variable, mainly NE 2-8kt (F2-F3) across much of England and Wales. Mainly S-SSW 10-14kt (F4) ahead of the cold front, becoming W-WNW 12-14kt (F4) behind the front.

SUNDAY:
A ridge of high pressure builds through Ireland and the UK on Sunday and this brings the promise of fair conditions for most. Low pressure is extended closer to eastern coasts of England and there is the threat of a shower over East Anglia and the far southeast.
Generally though most of the country is going to be fair and bright with good spells of sunshine, although there may be some morning mist and fog patches early on.
Fair too through much of Scotland, but cloud increasing in the far west later, as the winds pick up here too.
Winds mainly NW 8-14kt (F3-F4) for England and Wales and easing through the day, becoming SW 10-14kt (F3-F4) in western Scotland and Ireland.
